有很多種方式都可以對環境有所貢獻。

其中一種，就是在馬路上走著走著，看到一隻出了車禍後的不知名動物，為牠拍一張照，然後分享到網路上。這樣的分享，後來對鼬獾狂犬病、石虎保育，以及各種蜥蜴青蛙的生態學知識，都有了舉足輕重的貢獻。因為，當我們想要為環境做些什麼時，我們需要做些困難的決定。要做決定需要知識。而知識的可靠性很大部份來自資訊的量。

拍照，上傳，這樣簡單的動作，當全臺灣各地都有人做一點，做一點時，資訊的量突然間就變得巨大，巨大的令人感動。而現在，路殺社要再更進一步，邀請大家多做一些些，來獲得能說服更多人的數據。如果你偶然在路上看到那些車禍小動物們心中一酸，那麼就拍個照，上個傳，甚或撿起來寄給特生中心作為標本紀錄。當作，是送牠們走最後的一哩路。

如果這樣已經不能滿足你想付出的想望，那麼來看看路殺社 2.0 吧。

走一段三公里的路，開車、騎車，或散步都好。我們希望你看到的車禍小動物越少越好。但如果很多，那麼你所走得這三公里路，與這路上所分享的資訊，也許，能在未來讓那些車禍小動物們的同族們，生命的路程走得更長一些。

A citizen science project in Taiwan is recruiting people to collect roadkill data in a systematic sampling design, an upgrade from the previously randomly (and also very valuable) data collecting method.

In general, citizen science can be classified into two major types: "systematic scheme" and "opportunity scheme" (Lewendowski and Spech 2015). In a systematic scheme, the participants have to follow the strict SOPs for standardisation, such as Breeding Bird Survey. In contrast, an opportunity scheme usually collect the data which is provided by case, such as eBird. It means that the participants of a systematic scheme usually need to be trained solidly, but it is not very important to them of an opportunity scheme. However, opportunity schemes can collect data quickly but the hosts have to deal with the data without standardisation. It is a kind of trade-off in citizen science. 

TaiRON (Taiwan Roadkill Observation Network) is an opportunity scheme which launched by my outstanding colleague De-En Lin. It has collected a huge amount of roadkill data within five years and has been provided with several stakeholders on different issues. However, the different effort among each participant is still the problem to analyse their data. Therefore, the second stage of TaiRON is that launch it again in a systematic scheme. It is the first citizen science project which transformed from an opportunity scheme to a systematic scheme.

We share all the responsibilities to make our citizen science great again! (what a cliche)
